Mississippi College has been accepted to NCAA Division II athletics.

The original 2013 application by the Choctaws to return to DII was denied by the NCAA, on the grounds that MC was “not committed to the Division II process.”

On August 23rd, MC appealed that decision. The news broke early Friday morning that the appeal was successful.

The Choctaws will compete in the Gulf South Conference, which houses teams in five states across the southeast. MC competed in the GSC from 1972-1996. MC has been tentatively scheduled in GSC competition for 2014-2015.

MC will now take the steps in the provisional Division II membership process, a multi-year process that should conclude in being a full Division II member in 2015-2016

All MC sports teams will be ineligible to compete in NCAA Division III postseason competition this season.
