The Lady Choctaws could not have asked for a more beautiful day and better result than
this afternoon’s game against the Generals of LSU-Alexandria. It was the team’s first game
played on Robert P. Longabaugh field in almost two years, and the first match back was an
Beatrice Currie started out hot with two consecutive goals in the 9th and 23rd minutes,
with Holly Pascoe scoring her first goal in three years in the 25th minute. With time expiring in
the first half, Caroline Naman scored her first collegiate goal to send the Lady Choctaws into the
half with a 4-0 lead. The second half was still all MC, as Erin Hederman tacked on two
consecutive goals of her own in the 61st and 63rd minutes. Ashton Storey scored a beautiful
strike in the 74th minute with Madison Morgan also scoring her first collegiate goal with seven
minutes left in the match.
Like Morgan, nine Lady Choctaws got their first collegiate action with 24 players total
taking the pitch for MC. Like the scoreboard, the shots favored MC in a 37-5 margin, with shots
on target at 21-2. Erin Hederman led with eight shots with six on target, and Beatrice Currie
with four shots and two on target.
The Lady Choctaws start Gulf South Conference play as they travel to Auburn-
Montgomery this coming Friday, September 17 and hope to continue their success on the pitch.
